Historic Buildings at W. McMillan and W. Clifton

A new proposal to construct a six-story mixed use development featuring 210-student apartments would require the removal of 4 historic buildings which occupy roughly 20% (estimation) of the planned area for construction, including Christy’s & Lendhardt’s Fine German Dining and Clifton Natural Foods market.

My question is why demolish these buildings with architectural appeal when the area already has plenty of open space to build? Let’s start with filling in the gaps. Personally, if I could only pick one, it’s the Clifton Natural Market building. The rounded corner gives the (now) historic area it’s character, (mega awesome internet opinion). My suggestion is renovate it for commercial/office space since it’s probably too loud for residential. boom!
